In creating an S1 Portfolio the school is embarking on a major project which ought to have an impact on every classroom in the school. Before work is commenced, therefore, certain guiding principles should be agreed:
it should build on what we already know about profiling and on what we already do;
it should build on what we know about the pupil from primary school;
it must be relevant both to the pupil and to the work of the faculties around the school;
it must be aligned to CfE and to our School Vision;
it must be progressive, allowing pupil improvement to be tracked;
it must encourage pupil self-reflection;
it must be practical and manageable;
it must contain a major element of self-evaluation;
it must exist as both and electronic and a paper record.
